New Parents Tea – 2024

We had a great time celebrating new parents on Sunday!! Some of us have been in TPOM for years and this was our first time we were able to go. We were joined by 3 newer members. A couple that have 3.5 year old twins. Another couple and another mom that have 8 week old twins that were born a day apart! It was so nice to connect and celebrate the moms and families that were able to make it. We had some board and chairs able to make it too. Thank you to British Bites in Puyallup for having us.

Pairs at the Planetarium – 2024

This past weekend, seven families, each with their own set of twins, embarked on an astronomical adventure at the Pierce College Science Dome. Our destination? None other than the heart of the Milky Way during the interactive show, “Journey to the Center of the Galaxy.”

This wasn’t your average sit-back-and-watch affair. It was an interactive experience where the audience gets to steer the ship! The show’s vibrant visuals and engaging storytelling captivated us all. We zoomed past planets and the kids even made a nebula craft to take home!

It wasn’t all just gasps and giggles—there was plenty of learning to be had. The Science Dome’s experts guided us through the latest astronomical insights, answering eager questions from young minds fascinated by black holes and stars. Some kids asked if they really went to space! Parents listened intently, too, proving that you’re never too old to learn something new, especially when it’s about the universe.

The Science Dome’s “Journey to the Center of the Galaxy” was a hit, leaving us all with dreams filled with comets and constellations. Until our next interstellar voyage, we’ll be gazing up at the night sky with newfound appreciation and wonder.

COBRA Self-Defense Power Hour at General Meeting – 2024

At our March general meeting this past Wednesday, we had a special guest speaker: Theresa Norris, who runs COBRA Self-Defense Gig Harbor. Theresa is not your average self-defense instructor. As a mom of three, including a dynamic duo of twins, she can relate to our busy and distracted lives. She turned her desire to feel secure into a mission to help others feel the same.

Although we had fun and laughed, we learned serious tactics to keep us and our families safer. She shared statistics about Washington crime and the psychology of some criminals, to inform us in difficult situations. There was an even an acronym similar to ours that will be hard to forget: TPM. We absorbed the knowledge like sponges… or should I say, like parents cleaning up yet another spilled juice box.

Of course, some things are out of your control, but this was a great first step in being more prepared to defend yourself or family. Many of us were eager to know more and luckily Theresa has longer sessions to practice the moves in realistic situations.

Follow COBRA Self-Defense- Gig Harbor’s Facebook page to learn the latest or sign up for the next sessions on the website. There are sessions for all ages, even kids!

Easter Egg Hunt – 2024

The Woodland Elementary School playground was transformed to Easter wonderland with hidden treasures waiting to be discovered. This cheerful gathering brought together around 15 families, a delightful mix of singletons and twins.

Parents, of course brought their kids, but this was also a perfect event to bring grandparents! Raising families with multiple children takes a village, so it’s great to see the whole village come together for egg hunting. Having extra help to watch the kids can give parents an easier opportunity to connect with other families, too.

Besides searching for eggs, the kids loved chasing each other around the playfield, climbing the jungle gym, and playing games with each other.

The Tacoma Parents of Multiples club’s egg hunt event was a beautiful demonstration of community, family, and the joys of spring. As each family left with baskets full of goodies and hearts full of memories, it was clear that this day was about more than just the hunt-it was about the treasure of togetherness.

Join us at our next event – Pairs at the Planetarium!

Multiples at the Movies – 2024

The Blue Mouse Theatre hosted our wild crew again this year for Multiples at the Movies. All ages are welcome at all of our events, so we show a movie that is appropriate for most kids.

Upon arrival, families bought popcorn, candy, soda, beer, or wine while the kids played in the theatre and got some energy out.

First ones there!

Once everyone is settled, the movie starts! This is a great event for young ones who can’t sit through a whole movie and need to walk around or go potty. We can all be patient and understanding with busy kids since we’ve all been there ourselves at some point!

Holiday Recovery Party – 2024

As any busy family knows, the holidays can be so fun while also exhausting. Years ago, Tacoma Parents of Multiples created the “Holiday Recovery Party” as annual event for parents to relax and connect with other parents of twins, triplets, and more! Most of our events include the kids and it can be hard to have full adult conversations. This is the first event for chatting with new and long-time members!

We had a blast at our annual parents-only event, “Holiday Recovery Party”. This year we switched up the venue and went to 7 Seas Brewing in downtown Tacoma. We had reserved the back room with snacks. Parents bought dinner at the delicious Canteen Colvos inside the brewery. Since it was a more casual place than a sit-down dinner, people could come when they wanted. Flexible timing is important with our big families. 🙂

After eating and talking, we had a white elephant gift exchange. There were some amazing and funny gifts. Thanks everyone who came to the party, laughed, and swapped gifts.

Join us in February at Multiples at the Movies!

Milk and Cookies with Santa – 2023

Every December, Santa visits our group to read stories, eat cookies, and play with the kids. He never disappoints! Santa read, “Twas the Night Before Christmas” in a cute school library nook. Our kids had so many great questions for him and he was ready with all the answers!

After we had milk and cookies, we all moved to the gym where we played games, including hide and seek from Santa. So adorable!

Join us in January for our next event – Parent’s Holiday Recovery Party at 7 Seas Brewing!

Pairs at the Patch – 2023

The beginning of fall means picking pumpkins with Pairs at the Patch! McMillin Farms in Puyallup hosted us again with a great pumpkin patch, corn maze, play area for little kids, and a brewery. Over 50 people joined us and we met some more twins who were happened to be visiting the patch the same day! TPOM buys each child a sugar pumpkin and usually families bring home more pumpkins, corn, or other festive farm market items. A special congrats to our new members with babies who joined us for their first TPOM event!

New year potluck and ice cream social – 2023

The TPOM new year starts in the fall, just like school, and we celebrated with a potluck in the park! We combined this with our ice cream social, which had to be postponed due to smoke last month. A huge thank you to our ice cream sponsors, Bliss Small Batch Creamery and Medosweet Farms! This is a great event for all ages with the playground, field, skateboard park, and of course food.

Our new year potluck led with Survivor 101 and then a general meeting. Join us next year to learn more about Tacoma Parents of Multiples! Go to tacomamultiples.org/join-renew/ to start or renew your membership for the next full year of benefits.
