Summer and Fall 2025

Whew! It has been a busy few months. TPOM has been busy.

A fiery adventure

We started the summer off with an unforgettable adventure — we got to spend the day at the Kent Fire Department! It was a day full of smiles, big questions, and even bigger fire trucks. The twins were beyond excited to step into the boots (well, not literally — but close enough!) of our local heroes.

First up on the agenda? Power tools! The firefighters gave the twins a hands-on demo of some of the tools they use in emergencies. There’s nothing quite like the look on a kid’s face when they’re holding real-life rescue equipment — they were in awe! Of course, all under the watchful eyes of the pros, and safely supervised.

Next, we got the grand tour of where these everyday heroes live while on shift. From the bunk rooms to the kitchen, the twins got a sneak peek into the firefighters’ second home. There’s something so special about seeing where these brave men and women rest and recharge before jumping into action at a moment’s notice.

And of course, no firehouse visit is complete without climbing inside a real fire truck! The kids scrambled up into the cab, posed for pictures, and imagined what it must feel like to roar down the road with lights flashing and sirens wailing. They asked every question you could think of — from “How do you rescue a kitten from a tree?” to “How long is the fire hose?” The firefighters answered each one with patience and a smile.

It was a day of learning, exploring, and gaining a brand-new appreciation for the amazing work our firefighters do every single day.

A huge THANK YOU goes out to Levi Winston for making this special visit possible. We’re so grateful for opportunities like this that create memories and inspire young minds.

A trip to T-Mobile park

A total of 91 TPOM, NWAMOMC (Northwest Association of Mothers of Multiples Clubs), family and friends went to the Mariner’s game in August. What can make a gorgeous night at T-Mobile Stadium in Seattle with parents of multiples from Tacoma, Spokane, Ridgefield, etc. even better? A 3 run home run to win the game from Cal Raleigh!

Go Mariner’s (and TPOM)!

Splish, Splash!

Even when it’s cloudy, TPOM members have fun. Moms, dads, and twins, singletons, and more hung out in August at the TPOM Pool Takeover, at the Fircrest Swimming Pool.

Clouds don’t matter when you are making friends and memories with TPOM friends!

Making plans

All these events take a lot of work to plan and our TPOM board and chair members spent August playing but also planning for the upcoming year. Our wonderful organization and all of these events are due to the hard work of these individuals! The board and chair members have a big planning meeting once a year, plus monthly meetings!

Back to the ballpark

In September, TPOM went back to the ballpark – this time to the Tacoma Rainier’s game!

September picnic

TPOM membership renewals were due in September and we spent a beautiful day on Saturday at DeCoursey Park celebrating the new year with our families. We had lots of returning families and several new ones too! A yummy potluck lunch, making new friends at the playground, photos with friends and enjoying the companionship of fellow parents of multiples. A special thanks to Levi who manned the grill and made hot dogs for everyone!

Meeting with even more parents of multiples!

TPOM is part of a “mother” organization, NW Mothers of Multiples Clubs. Each year there is a Fall Meeting and a Spring Convention that brings together clubs in the greater northwest area. The fall meeting was in the beautiful Sumner-Auburn Valley in October. It was hosted by the Northwest Traveling MOMs and some Valley Mothers of Multiples Clubmembers. Miss Auburn Teen, Malia Watanabe-Collier, Granddaughter of NWAMOMC member Tonya Watanabe, offered a warm and special greeting. It was a weekend filled with laughter, learning, and lasting friendships! At the meeting our Junior and Senior Delegates represented TPOM by, voting for our club for NWMOMC business. The annual Spring Convention will be in Lynnwood, WA in April 2026.

Pumpkin patch

TPOM’s annual Pairs at the Patch event was at McMillin Farm once again. We had a great time running through the corn maze, seeing how tall we all were this fall, saying hi to chickens and goats, and picking out pumpkins.

We’ve had such a great time at McMillin farm for the last several years. We’ve enjoyed seeing how it has grown over the years. We learned just after our event that the management of the farm is changing hands and we are all sad that we won’t be able to host our event here next year. The good news is that they are looking for a new location! We are looking forward to seeing what they do next year and continuing our tradition!

2025 Easter Egg Hunt

The Annual TPOM Easter Egg Hunter took place on April 5th, 2025, and the weather was simply eggcellent! We had an amazing turnout of TPOM Families, all coming together to enjoy the egg hunt. It was wonderful to see everyone having such a great time. A special shoutout to TPOM Member Leviticus Winston, who volunteered to be a human pinata—kids had a blast chasing him to snag full-sized candy bars!

Multiples at the Movies

The Blue Mouse theater has been showing movies since 1923. That’s 102 years and the longest continuously operating theater in Washington state. TPOM’s history with the Blue Mouse isn’t quite as long, but its been at least a decade. In February we held our annual Multiples at the Movies event with TPOM families and friends to watch the Wild Robot.

Parents Night Out: 2025 Holiday Recovery Party

We had so much fun at our Holiday Recovery Party at 7 Seas Brewing in Tacoma, WA this year! Parents look forward to this kid-free event to chat with and meet other parents of multiples. It’s a relaxing time to ask questions “how do you do this…?” Or “you can’t believe what my kids did last week…”

We ended the night with a White Elephant gift exchange that included a mix or practical and funny gifts that caused some great laughter!

This event is always in January when hopefully all of the holiday chaos has calmed down a bit, which is usually more chaotic with a bunch of kids in each family!

Let us know if you want to have another informal parents night out or have event ideas at tpom_events@tacomamultiples.org.

TPOM’s Annual Cookies with Santa: A Heartwarming Tradition

This year’s Cookies with Santa event at TPOM was a true highlight of the season, and it was so wonderful to see so many familiar faces and new ones come together to celebrate. A special thank you goes out to everyone who brought in cookies to share—your generosity helped make the event extra sweet!

Santa was the star of the day, taking the time to visit every table and chat with each child, making sure they felt special and heard. His warm presence was felt by all, as he read the classic tale The Night Before Christmas to the children, captivating their imaginations with each turn of the page.

The beautiful backdrop and setup for photos with Santa were a magical touch, providing the perfect setting for families to capture memories that will last a lifetime. Santa’s thoughtful approach made sure that every child felt important, and it was clear how much he enjoyed spending time with each one.

After the photos, the fun didn’t stop! The children had a blast playing games with Santa in the gym, filling the space with laughter and excitement. It’s easy to see why this event has become such a beloved tradition, with the kids eagerly looking forward to it each year.

We’re already looking forward to next year’s Cookies with Santa—it’s a tradition that continues to bring joy to all!

2024 Pairs at the Patch

This post comes a little late as we are preparing for cookies with Santa this week! Here are some pictures from our October event, Pairs at the Patch, at McMillin Farm. McMillin Farm has been a generous host for the last three years. Every kid gets to bring home a pumpkin paid for by TPOM!

Welcome to the new year picnic!

In mid-September, we had a lovely gathering at Decoursey Park in Puyallup to celebrate the beginning of the TPOM 2024-2025 year. It was such a warm and enjoyable experience, with families coming together to enjoy delicious hot dogs, share delightful potluck sides, and enjoy some ice cream. The children appeared to have a wonderful time exploring the park, creek, pond, and playground. We shared many moments of baby snuggles, engaged in quality adult conversations, and cherished our time together. It was truly a delightful location for our event, and we were fortunate that the weather cleared just in time!
