COBRA Self-Defense Power Hour at General Meeting – 2024

At our March general meeting this past Wednesday, we had a special guest speaker: Theresa Norris, who runs COBRA Self-Defense Gig Harbor. Theresa is not your average self-defense instructor. As a mom of three, including a dynamic duo of twins, she can relate to our busy and distracted lives. She turned her desire to feel secure into a mission to help others feel the same.

Although we had fun and laughed, we learned serious tactics to keep us and our families safer. She shared statistics about Washington crime and the psychology of some criminals, to inform us in difficult situations. There was an even an acronym similar to ours that will be hard to forget: TPM. We absorbed the knowledge like sponges… or should I say, like parents cleaning up yet another spilled juice box.

Of course, some things are out of your control, but this was a great first step in being more prepared to defend yourself or family. Many of us were eager to know more and luckily Theresa has longer sessions to practice the moves in realistic situations.
